PLEASE READ MY TRUE STORY...
I first discovered the Jennings Devastator Crossbow about 25 years ago.
A friend of mine had one that he said was used by US Special OPS... I told him that I wanted to buy it, but he had already promised it to someone else. That specific crossbow was very unique, and I haven't been able to find another one like it... it had a compartment for tools (allen wrenches) and broadheads, etc. -it was a modified version of the Jennings Devastator Crossbow manufactured by Bear/Jennings.

I already was using a Barnett Crossbow that shot bolts similar to almost all crossbows on the market today... using a rail. I repeat - USING a RAIL.
The Jennings Devastator Crossbow does NOT use a rail... and after I finally bought one at Gander Mountain for $379 - Right away I was able to notice why a NON-RAIL crossbow has clear advantages over other crossbows that use a rail.
It shoots very similar to a regular archery compound bow! The first advantage is, after you set it up properly, you can shoot the crossbow holding it level -or at any angle. But that's not the most important advantage. When hunting in either fog, rain or snow, you don't have to worry about moisture causing the arrow/bolt to be off from where you've sighted it in when practicing. All you need to do, it to make sure the arrow/bolt is dry.... there is no problem with constantly keeping a rail dry.
That factor alone totally sold me on the Jennings Devastator Crossbow!
These are extremely powerful crossbows and shoot extremely accurate - once you've set it up properly.
If you buy this one, I can share a few tips on getting it set up properly.

Even using a light 100 grain broadhead, it shoots very accurate 35+ yards with little practice - wow!
I have been able to harvest most of my deer (over 30) - using my Jennings Devastator Special #7006 Crossbow... and

The last time I used it, the bolt/arrow went clear through a large doe, and it continued on to bring another deer down right at the same time- 2 deer with 1 shot... that was a total accident, and I didn't mean for that to happen. I felt pretty bad about that, and haven't hunted since... just getting old and sensitive, I guess.
